OK.......here are some photos of some recent sewing projects, as promised. I completed another Pleated Beauty Handbag for a special someone's birthday. I don't know if that person is reading this blog yet, so I won't say who. As before, I used the pattern from Amy Karol's book. I LOVE this pattern. I have more linen to use to make one for myself before fall. It is a very roomy bag, and so pretty to sew up. I also sewed a little zippered bag using this tutorial. It was really easy to sew. I have made one of these before and I really liked it. One error I found in the tutorial directions was that she says to cut the initial pieces of fabric 7 inches by whatever wide. You actually need to cut them the width of the entire zipper which is close to 9 inches. At least that is how I was able to get it to work. Anyway, I love the directions in this tutorial for putting in the zipper. It is really easy, and I was scared about it, even though I've done lots of zippers in garments before, I hadn't tried one this way. Here are the photos:
I think I like this color combo almost as much as the other one I made. I used the same chocolate brown linen from here, but I ordered the pink/brown print on E-bay. Sometime I want to try making a coordinating fabric flower to pin on the bag when I make another of these. That would spruce it up some more, although I like it like this too.
Another view. This time I didn't put the interfaced bottom into the bag, so the bottom is a little floppier, but I still like it. It was kind of hard (for me anyway) to put the bottom in before, so that's why I left it out this time.
Here is the little zipper pouch. It has the brown linen on the back and it's fully lined. The gerber daisy fabric is from E-bay.
Next up on the project list are several Capri Sun bags that I am making for another friend to give as gifts. I am going to start those tonight after the boys are in bed. I will post photos when I'm done.
