I bought a set of 4 snowman placecard holders when thrifting a while ago. I stuck them in my January tub and forgot about them until I pulled it out recently. At first, I wasn't sure at all what work I could make with them. Then I thought of the counting activities I've had out on the Practical Life shelves these past few months, and I immediately knew what I would do. This is how the work is set up on a tray. There is a little blue bowl of 10 white pom-pom "snowballs", a little tray with number cards 1-4, a pair of tongs, and a divided tray with the four placecard holders in it.
To do this work, the child first places a number card onto the clip of each placecard holder. I think this will be a HUGE point of interest for them. Then they use the tongs to place that many "snowballs" into each space.

And here are two snowballs in the "2" place. Isn't this a fun work? I think the children will love it. When they complete it, they must find a teacher to check their work. I can't wait to see them use this in class.
