I think I've posted these before, but to save you the hassle of searching the archives, I'll post them again.
The activity shown below is simply two coffee stirrers and a package of harvest-themed buttons. The shanks of the buttons are the perfect diameter to be slid onto the coffee stirrers without being so large that they slide back off. The children have enjoyed the challenge of this fine motor activity. Additionally, the little tiny buttons appeal to them and invite their interest.
I made this button turkey two years ago out of felt. The children love to button his tail feathers on and, inevitably, come over to show me the turkey when he is "finished".
