Looking for a meaningful way to spend your Christmas money this year? Consider Gifts of Compassion. Clicking on THIS LINK will take you to their gift catalog. What better way to spread the message of God's love at Christmastime than to help a fellow human in need? These gifts start as low as $10 and are in the form of a one-time donation. This would be a wonderful way to get involved with Compassion's work even if you are not yet ready or interested in making the monthly commitment of sponsoring a child. When I think about how many people are living in poverty, it tugs at my heartstrings. I took my sons out to eat the other day when they got out of school early. For the amount I paid for our lunch, I could have purchased a mosquito net that would actually allow boys their age to stay ALIVE! When put that way, it's sobering, isn't it? We truly don't realize or appreciate how much we have in this country. I hope that God will continue to remind me of this so I can make reflective decisions about how to utilize the resources I've been given. I could DEFINITELY do a lot better in this area!
I feel so strongly about this giving opportunity that I'm sponsoring a little giveaway. If you decide to give a Gift of Compassion, please leave me a comment and let me know what you've decided to give. Everyone who gives (at any level) gets their name in a drawing to receive a little fabric Christmas bunting made by yours truly. This would look great on a tree or hung in a doorway. Since we are getting so close to Christmas, this giveaway will end at 10:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 15th. That way I can get it in the mail to the winner so it can still be displayed this Christmas. Below is a photo of the bunting. Not the greatest photo, my apologies!! In the meantime, I'm going to let my sons look at the Gifts of Compassion catalog and allow each of them to choose something to give. I'll let you know what we decide when I announce the winner.
