Happy Mother's Day, everyone! (I think it's safe to wish EVERYONE a Happy Mother's Day since EVERYONE HAS a mother.) Today's post is another little peek at something I made recently. Using the Crayon Roll Tutorial from Skip to My Lou (see link on the sidebar), I made crayon rolls for my two boys for Valentine's Day this year. They were very easy and turned out great. I altered them somewhat since I wanted the one for my older son to hold a new set of Lyra Ferby colored pencils (purchased from Montessori Services--also listed on the sidebar) and those pencils come in a set of 12 instead of 16. I also altered the other one to make wider pockets as I used the chunky sized crayons for my 2-year-old's roll. I have posted my photos here for you to enjoy.

I like the idea of making some of these to use in the Montessori classroom this fall. However, since Montessori is all about independence, I am thinking that I will have to adapt the closure of the roll since most young children cannot manage the bow-tying without help. I am going to experiment with adding a little elastic loop to wrap around a button. When I get that figured out, I'll post the results.
Blog is lookin' good! The photos are total blog style! I forgot to take my pics last week, but I am going to work on that this week so I can get the cool pics too!
