Freezer Paper Info

I've had a few people asking what freezer paper is.  It's a good question.  So, I told Jo, who lives in Japan and is having trouble finding it, that I would do a quick post to show a photo of what I am using.

Here is a photo of what is available as freezer paper here in the United States.  It is made by Reynolds, a company which also makes aluminum foil on a roll, and probably a lot of other stuff.  I have had this roll for a LONG time, but I am pretty sure you can find it in most grocery stores next to where the foil and wax paper is located. 

Here is a close up that shows the description of it on the side of the box.  If you click on the photo you can view it larger.

And here is a photo I took trying to show both sides.  I folded over the corner which shows the plain paper side.  The side facing up is the shiny side which is coated with wax.  You place this side down onto the fabric and when you iron on the plain side the wax melts and sticks to the fabric.  You are then able to tear it off after stenciling and it doesn't leave any type of residue on the fabric.  I hope this helps.  I don't know what it would be called elsewhere in the world.  I DO know that it is commonly used here in the US to wrap raw meat at the butcher shop.

One last question...where is the least expensive place to buy plain kid's tshirts? I can't wait to get started!!!

Good question, Shannon! Yes, freezer paper is different than wax paper. Wax paper is waxy on both sides and would melt onto your iron if you try to iron it. Freezer paper is only waxy on one side with a heavy white paper on the other side.

This is different then wax paper though, right???
