I want to thank you so much for all the kind and flattering comments you have been sending me recently. As of yesterday, the blog has been up and running for 2 months. It's amazing to me how much traffic on the blog is increasing and what a widespread audience I have. I think I have been able to reply to each comment personally through email. However, occasionally that has not worked and I apologize. Holly commented yesterday, I think, and though I tried several times, for some reason my reply did not get delivered to her. My apologies to Holly!!
Today has been a crazy, busy day, so I'm posting really late. I will fill you in on a few things that I've been doing.
First, the other day I found THE MOST AMAZING THING at my local thrift store. I've written several posts showing things I find there, but this find TOPS THEM ALL!!! OK.............below you will see, in living color (bad lighting, however; darn, Kodak Easyshare :0( )...............an item that every Montessori teacher dreams of finding..............are you ready????
A basket shaped like the United States!!!!!!!!!!!!! (OK, out of respect for international readers, I will amend the above statement: This is the item all Montessori teachers in the US dream of!!) Obviously I am exaggerating, but really, I was so excited to find this. I have been getting my Geography shelf up and running (more photos on that soon, hopefully) and my oldest son and I were just walking around in the thrift shop, and through the back of another shelf I saw what appeared to be something shaped like the US. I walked around, and sure enough, there it was for only $3. I was literally going on and on to DH about that basket all day. It is pretty big. I am planning to place envelopes in it of all the states for pin-punching, color-coded of course. It will be easier to show when I'm done than explain that right now. So........look for more on that soon.
The other big things I've been working on are at home. I decided (after reorganizing the craft room) to have another garage sale to weed out some of my excess scrapbook and stamping stuff. That starts tomorrow morning at 8:00 a.m. and I just finished arranging and pricing everything. The reason that got done so late is that I also recently decided to completely reorganize all the children's books in my house. Sometimes I think I'm insane. I mean, who spends the whole afternoon organizing children's books when they have a garage sale the next day with NOTHING priced or sorted and to top it all off, DH was out of town until about 9:00 p.m. Let's just say he arrived home to a pretty wacked-out wife. I know, CRAZY! But organizing makes me happy, and it will be great when it's done. So, I will leave you with the BEFORE shots of my book reorganzing project. Hopefully tomorrow after the garage sale, I will finish the book project and have the AFTER shots to share.
These are all the books I pulled out of my oldest son's room and our office. Tomorrow I will show you how I reorganized them. I should point out that when DH came home I pulled him into the office to show him our newly organized system and he LAUGHED!!! Sometimes, I think he thinks I'm over the top about organizing things. He's probably right. But it makes me so HAPPY!!!!!!!! I just can't help myself :0)
I can't wait to hear the system you use to organize the books. I told my hubby last week that I wanted to organize the kids books and needed an easy system. My husband is a super organizer! I want an easy way for the kids to re-shelve and know that they are in the right place....maybe color dots...

I love how your so organised!! I too get a thrill out of organising things! I thought I was odd until I met my boss who is a madly organised montessorian and now I discover that so many of the montessorians are so keen on being organised. Great Job your doing! Hope the sale went well.
