Hello, all! My little guy and I don't have school today SO I managed to squeeze in a little trip to our local thrift shop. I hadn't been there in a while, but I am never disappointed when scouting out things for my classroom.
Here is what I came home with. From L to R: apple garland, a little cardboard apple box with a lid, a pumpkin basket, a jack-o-lantern bag with drawstring (didn't show up too well in this photo), a tray type of basket and in the front a United States cookie cutter and school bus cookie cutter. I looked for an apple cookie cutter, but didn't have any luck.
I will probably place some type of apple card activity in the little box. Same for the pumpkin basket, but with pumpkins or leaves. I thought the jack-o-lantern bag would be great for a pumpkin matching game I have made up for October. I'm always on the lookout for tray-type baskets, so that will be used right away I'm sure. And.........who could pass up a US cookie cutter, not to mention the school bus.
I am probably going to cut apart the apple garland to use in a Practical Life activity and/or I am going to replace the red pom-poms in the apple picking game I posted about yesterday with these apples. The store had a few more strands of these that I may go back and get. They are very realistic looking. LOVE IT!!!!!!!
While not thrifted, I wanted to show what I picked up yesterday at Hobby Lobby. These items will soon find their way to the classroom shelves in one form or another. In the two packages are felt leaves and felt pumpkins. I have some great ideas for using these, but I'll have to keep you in suspense! Gotta save something for future posts!! :0)
In response to Patty's comment...I keep a spreadsheet to record all my thrifted finds, with a column for what I paid and another for what the item would have cost retail. It helps me control my spending by seeing what I actually did spend, and justifies the thrifting habit since I've saved so much!

Neat finds! How do you find the energy? Our school does not have an ac and we have been melting! Do you ever add up all the $$ that you spend on little things found at the thrift shops? Isn't it scary? LOL

I spent 50$ in the thrift store yesterday - I kept seeing things that I could use! I got a neat apple shaped something made out of wire, I have no idea what it is, but its now holding my rolled up painting paper! I was looking for little vases, found lots, and some jugs, some great baskets and more! Thrift stores are fun but I spend way too much there!
