Reading the blogs of other moms and teachers has been so inspirational for me. I am continually amazed by what others are doing and love to create things for my classroom based on those great ideas. Friday night right before I started my last round of fall conferences I pulled together this activity. I had seen it here on the Itty Bitty Love blog just a few hours before heading over to school for conferences. I was completely excited to put it together for my classroom. Luckily, several weeks ago I had purchased a cheap salt shaker from my local dollar store with plans to use it for something. And this activity fit the bill!
Here is the activity set up on a tray. It includes a small basket to hold the beads, a salt shaker and a little tray with pipe cleaners.
I really liked how Itty Bitty Love added beads to the pipe cleaners for an additional point of interest. Luckily, I had some flower beads that I have been waiting to incorporate into an activity. This was PERFECT!! I have long admired the button bouquets from Whimsy Love and after I saw the activity from Itty Bitty, I knew that I would use all green pipe cleaners for "flower stems" and my cool flower beads. I can't wait to see how the children like this work. I am sure they'll LOVE IT!!
Here is a close-up photo to show the flower beads. I wish I could tell those of you that will wonder where to get these, but they were already in my classroom when I arrived. Probably most craft stores would have something similar.
Yep I was ust coming back as I thought of bees flying from flower to flower, so Im with anne. Then as soon as I read "change from month to month" I sudnley had brown pipe cleaners in my head for a tree, with bead leaves!

Oh! I love the way this turned out! I can't wait to go look for some flower beads - little insect beads would be fun, too. I can tell this is a lesson that will change from month to month! :) I had conferences on Friday, too, and will have more on Monday. It's such a good time to squeeze in lesson making and nook-n-cranny cleaning, but also slightly exhausting!
Glad you're back and feeling refreshed!

OMG I LOVE IT!!! and stop writing in CAPITALS! You are getting me over excited!!!!!!!! Only thing is I have been hunting for both a little holed and big holed shaker with no luck, might have to try and make something, a laminated card punched with a hole punch perhaps.
