I have put out a few Easter-themed items on the language shelf this month. I LOVE how my ABC eggs turned out. I printed them from Kidssoup. However, instead of printing them on plain white, I decided to print them on some double-sided printed cardstock. I had a bunch of this left over from my Lent project cards. The cardstock was 12X12 inches, so I cut it down to 8 1/2 X11 inches before feeding it into my printer. I also made sure that the letter side was on the printed side of the paper that was less busy. Below you can see the eggs in a little basket. This is how they are displayed on the language shelf. After printing them I laminated them and cut them out.
Here you can see the variety of prints I used. I LOVE the paper..........the colors are so pretty.
To do the work, the child lays out the letters in ABC order. NOTE: The photo below shows the letters on a table; however, I have the children do this on a rug. I was just too lazy to get a rug out when I set up this photograph. :0)
The other Easter language work is the CVC egg puzzles that I printed from Kelly's Kindergarten. I printed them all off and laminated them. However, I am only putting out one color at a time on the shelf. That way the children can't rely on color to help them; they actually have to decode the words in order to be successful. Below you can see the work as it appears on the shelf in a little basket.
To do this work, the child lays out the picture halves of the eggs and then matches them with the corresponding words.
I'd like to link up to your post on 4/11/11. Would it be ok if I used your picture?

Oh, I had forgotten about the CVD Easter Egg puzzles that you had linked to a while ago. Thanks for the reminder, I think my 4.5 year old daughter would love them!

These activities look like a lot of fun! It might be a couple more months before I can do some of them with my little one. :)
