This week I put out a variation of the apple art project...........a torn paper pumpkin. The set-up on the art shelf is pretty much identical to the one shown in the apple project post. However, I substituted orange strips for the red (obviously!) and placed green pipe cleaners cut in half in a basket instead of the green paper leaves I had out for the apples. I also pre-punched a hole into each paper plate before putting them on the shelf. I gave a group lesson showing the children how to insert, attach and twist the pipe cleaner to make a pumpkin vine. We've been looking at real pumpkins in class. My assistant, Miss Michelle, brought in some pumpkins that were still green and small so the children could see the different stages of development in the pumpkin life cycle. Below you can see the finished pumpkin project.
I am a quiet on-looker, but a regular reader here...
I felt the need to say how much I appreciate what you share here. All your ideas and input is fabulous, and very useful.
I have one child (out of 6) that thinks a bit from a different angle, and your ideas are phenominal for him.
Thank-you,
~Sheri
