We have really been having fun this week singing a new (to me) apple song. The tune of this song is "Up on the Housetop". Here are the lyrics (with our actions in parentheses):
"Up in the treetop, way up high (Point up with arm outstretched)
Three red apples for my pie. (Hold up three fingers, then form a circle shape with hands)
How will I get them to the ground? (Hold out hands, palms up)
I'll shake that tree 'til they fall down. (Pretend to shake tree with both hands)
Shake shake shake (Pretend to shake)
Watch them fall (Hold hands palms down and imitate falling)
Shake shake shake (Pretend to shake)
I'll catch them all! (Pretend to catch apples)
Into my basket, 1-2-3 (Hold one arm like a basket, pretend to place three apples in basket)
No more apples on the tree! (Shake head "no" and point up to tree)
There is an apple tree along our path down the hill to our playground. We've been stopping next to it every day and singing our little song as we look at the apples. We have been told we can pick some of the apples from this tree, so there may be an apple cooking project coming soon!
Its a great song! All my 3-5s have been loving it.

We've been singing this song too (I got it from your September songs pdf.) I have three 2.5 year olds this year (a change for me - I usually have five or six 3-5 year olds.) and the 2 year olds really, really love this song!
